What Happened:

Katou: "What? He's asleep... Even though he's a spirit."

• Setsuna has a plot-relevant dream, blah blah, Katou sits on Setsuna, waking him up.

Setsuna: "HEAVY!!"

Katou: "Excuse me, I'm on a diet."

Setsuna: "WAKE ME UP NORMALLY! NORMALLY!"

Katou: "Well, I thought that if you slept any longer, you'd pass away..."

Setsuna: "Damn him... Ah!! Th... This loud ringing...!! That seems to be what Uriel told us. I can hear...! Humans... millions of them... the cries of the souls gathering...! The Cauldron of souls. Let's just go down for now."

Katou: "Don't wanna. By the way, this cross rod better be alright."

Setsuna: "It's fine! And you said you haven't used its real powers yet, right? ....But... it's what the old man said so-... There's no time to question! We just gotta do it. So see ya later."

Katou: "Hey! Don't make a stupid mistake and get erased at the critical moment. I haven't given up on my revenge against you yet."

Setsuna: "You better not waste the the life that I helped to save after all that work. Yuu-kun. ♥"

Katou: "DON'T CALL ME YUU-KUN!! I'll kill you! Man, kids these days don't have any respect for their seniors..."

• THERE ARE GHOULS, they are everywhere. Seriously everywhere.

Katou: "Ah! It's just terrible! So many people want to ask me out, eh? A pity I don't have the habit of going out with strangers. Ohh, I'm scared, so scared, that I'm gonna wet my pants. Right?!"

• Katou beats them all, and then, panting from the effort, sits on a pile of them.

Katou: "Did it... I've killed them all... Oh, I'm so tired. I don't want to do this anymore. It's like, so bad. Damm it, don't make a junkie work..."

• A bunch of the ghouls get sucked into something shiny.

Katou: "What is this, it looks like a mirror... Is this the entrance to that 'Cauldron'? Like a frosted glass you can enter from the front, but can't get out from the back... So this 'Pot' is truly a cage to trap souls. ....This could work. Are you listening?"

• Something terrible happened to Setsuna! Katou can't tell what, though, but he can sense his thoughts.

Katou: "Mudou!? What happened, Mudou!? Hey!! I don't know what but Set-chan's thoughts are completely in chaos...!! What is this... chill anyway...? Uh?! Wha... What was...?! That..."

• Aaaand then suddenly head-tripping, hey here's the family. They're waiting for you, Katou. :) Why don't you let go of that bat? :)

Sae: "Yuu-kun... You're late, I just finished preparing tea."

Katou's Dad: "Were you out fighting again? You can't help it, can you. You get your short temper from me."

Sae: "Now hurry and come here. We were all waiting for you. So now throw away that dangerous thing... and come here, now... Yuu-kun... You don't need that bat right now, do you? Now put that down there and come here. Now... Quickly...!"

Katou's Dad: "Now... Hand that over, Yue..."

Sae: "Now..."

Katou: "NO WAY!!"

• Aaaand stabbing something that LOOKS like his sister but isn't!

Sae: "Yuu... kun...? AHHHHHH!!!"

• The illusion melts away.

Setsuna: "Katou! Negotiations broke down!!"

Katou: "Yeah... I knew it would come to this."

Setsuna: "Break open the Cauldron of Souls!"

Enra-ou: "Stop!! If you do such a thing, there is no telling what would happen...!"

Katou: "I know 'the true powers of the cross rod will be unleashed only once. Use it with caution'. But if I don't use it now, then when am I going to use it? Hey? There's nothing to it, now that I know my strength."

• Katou uses the cross rod. There is an explosion! And he exhausts his energy by doing that. Setsuna tries to get Katou so they can leave.

Setsuna: "Katou!! There's an old guy with a huge face that's after us! Get on quickly!!"

Katou: "Heh heh... What a conscientious person...!"

Setsuna: "Now!! Your hand..."

• Katou reaches for Setsuna's hand.

Katou: *thinking* "It's all right. There's nothing to it now. Not afraid of losing since I now know the true meaning of fighting."

• Sudden flare of energy coming from the ground! Katou is getting blasted by it.

Setsuna: "Wh...what is it?! The clump of energy like a membrane of light."

Nidheg: "A barrier. Enra-ou shielded the entire 'pot' in order to stop any more souls from leaking."

Setsuna: "What?! Are you alright?! Katou!! Wait, a barrier like this... Ahhh! Damn it!! That old man! Are you alright, Nidheg...!"

Nidheg: "Yes...! But if I touch the barrier again, then the framework will fall apart...."

Setsuna: "Hey!! Katou, I'm going to attack it from the outside. Can you hear me?"

• Setsuna powers up astral energy with his hands.

Katou: "I can't go... This time, it's really 'Good-bye', Setsu-chan...!"

• Katou's right arm has partially melted, and he's holding the stump with his left hand.

Katou: "...My conscious is fading pretty bad already...! Return to the current world by yourself... As you can see, my spiritual powers can't even hold on to this form. Just what the old man said when he gave this to me. 'The true powers of the cross will be unleashed only once. It sublimates all of the spiritual powers that you can possess and releases it'...! I promised Uri that I'll use this power for you..."

Setsuna: "Then... you knew... what would happen when you use the cross Rod? ...Why... Why didn't you say it!! Damn you!"

Enra-Ou: "Messiah...!!! I won't let you escape!!"

Katou: "Go, Mudou! Go now--!!"

Katou: "Mudou! I said go!! Go!! Go!! Nidheg, you'll get caught!!! Mudou!!! For once, listen to me. You really are conceited!"

Setsuna: "Shut up!! I can't abandon a friend! That's it!"

Katou: "Why... Can't you understand... Why can't you understand that I'd rather disappear than be a burden for you?! I'm telling you to go for my sake. Or... I can die with this again like the last time?"

• Katou holds the cross rod up to his throat, only then the old man with the huge face attacks.

Katou: "Ahh!! Shit."

Setsuna: "W... wait. Katou...!! Is Katou alright..."

Katou: "Hey...!!"

• Flipping off Setsuna as Katou sends him on his way. :)

Setsuna: "Katou!! Katou!!"

Katou: *thinking* "What is it, you're too loud. Oh, my mind is all blank so I can't remember anything. Ah, I feel sleepy. Oh yeah, I have to return the CD to Kira when I go to school tomorrow... Have to return it..."
