It's simple. He hates "Lucifer" because he's in love with "Kira". It's a little like a bad breakup, except we were never dating in the first place. [ Kira shrugs. ] He'd rather not address any of it in the first place because he's terrible at his own feelings.

Trying to kill him and Setsuna probably didn't help anything.

It does not seem like it. He truly is the beacon of bad decisions.

Did you know, that one actually was his terrible decision. I was just going for Setsuna and he jumped in the way.

[ Kira grabs the teapot and pours more for her. ] Just don't drink it all at once. The girl who makes the stuff isn't home right now.

...no. To be truthful, that does not make sense without context. But, in the sense that it was clearly a bad decision, which he is prone to making without any hesitation, it does not surprise me.

[ Kira laughs. ] You'd be surprised at how often he does the whole "jumping in the way on purpose" thing. It's responsible for at least two of the times he died. Bad decisions are pretty much a staple of his entire existence.

Did he do it to save him?

To save Setsuna? That was the general idea, yeah.

"General idea" makes it sound like there is more to it. Did he want to make a bad decision that badly?

[ Kira's laughing too hard to answer that question. ]

[ He doesn't stop at once, but he manages to explain while still smiling in amusement. ] Not all of his bad decisions are conscious. But no, it's not that. He didn't have much time to think past "Shit, Setsuna's about to get sliced!" and then jumping into action.

His body moved without thinking. That much Echo can understand.

"He moved without thinking" is probably a decent chunk of his life, if you want to think about it like that. Consequences aren't his strong suit.
