• This is one of those memories where it's marked Neg/Sig because of the impact it had at the time, but in terms of Aather, it's not as high-impact. It's still not a pleasant memory for him, and comes with negative feelings, but it's something he'd pretty much already figured out from context of previous memories. Basically, it sucks and it'll leave him feeling depressed, but it's not earth-shatteringly, soul-crushingly horrible at this point.

Random Evil: "Hold on just a…‼"

Katou: "I'm gonna check that fake corpse right now, so leave it all to me."

Random Evil: "Like hell we will…‼"

Katou: "Now, now… Don't get so caught up about it…"

*Kira appears, Shiranui in hand. Katou makes an "oh shit" face for a moment*

Katou: "Ki…" *tackle-glomps Kira* "If it ain't Kira-sempai‼"

*Katou grins up at Kira while Kira makes a "wtf?!" face*

*Katou and Kira go over to Setsuna's corpse, where Katou flops down next to it while Kira stares*

Katou: "Heeeh… He really did croak… That's rich… Hey, don't just stand there and stare at me…" *Katou starts smoking a cigarette* "What's with that face, now? If anyone here should be surprised, it should be me! Kira— a monster's buddy… Who could have thought…"

Kira: "You… should have died. Setsuna killed you… and I buried your body in the schoolyard. Katou."

*Katou pulls off the Setsuna-face to reveal his own, while his hair goes back to normal*

Katou: "Well, I wanted to see you sooo much that I crawled right out of the Netherworld… That makes me a real nice monster too, doesn't it…? My master made this new body for me out of vegetable matter… Seeing as my real body is long gone and all that. Its structure hasn't quite settled in yet. That's why I could change my face at will." *pulls out three giant, feathery white wings* "That time in Hades, when I almost died— again— he brought me back to life. Fed me a feather of his. That kinda made me into a family member of sorts… So in this astral something-or-other thing I have three wings now, just like him… I'm the only man in the world who can play his double. Kira…? Yo, you ain't listening, are ya? And after I unfurled my wings for you, too…"

Kira: "Setsuna… Setsuna is in danger…!"

Katou: "And I was trying to be serious, too… Eh…? How do ya know?"

Kira: "Katou…! Are you on Setsuna's side…!?"

Katou: "Generally speaking, yeah…"

Kira: "Then I have something to ask of you… See Setsuna's body there? Look after it for me. Don't let anyone lay as much as a finger on it until I come back! Me, I'm going to Hell!"

*Katou makes the most annoyed, unimpressed face ever. Then he smiles casually.*

Katou: "Heh… Damned if I know what's going on, but I guess we don't have time to talk about the good ol' days right now… Well, all right… off you go. I'll take good care of Setchan here…"

Kira: "I'm counting on you!"

*Katou makes an even more irritated face as Kira walks away*

Katou: "There he goes… Now I always knew he wasn't exactly an ordinary person… But shit, this is just something else…" *Katou kicks a glass window and shatters it* "Ah, well… Why the hell do I care… What's up with ya, Kira?" *picks up Setsuna's corpse and climbs out the window* "Since when have ya ever trusted me!?"

Katou's Mom: "…Yue, your sister Sae is getting married next month. You should at least tell her 'congratulations'…"

Katou: "I… I dug out the box I buried many years ago. …Because I've always regreted…"

*After he talks to his mom, he swings by a house and unburies a box, goes to wrap it up, and then goes back and climbs up the window to Sae's room. She opens the window when he tries to get her attention*

Katou: "Sis…"

Sae: "Yuu-kun?! Why didn't you come in through the front!?"

Katou: *presses a finger to his lips* "Shh! You want Dad to find me!?"

What It Is:
The ability to fly and not suck at it! Although Katou had been practicing his ability to fly in Aather so he wasn't completely useless at it, this skill will smooth things out and make it a hell of a lot easier. He can make better aerial maneuvers, etc. It's not a lot because he didn't have much time to figure out his wings in canon before... stuff... but it covers the basics of flight control, and gives him the building-blocks to do more (like figure out aerial combat >D).

Katou: "Hey, where did you go? Mudou—‼ Setchan! I told him not to let go of my motherly loving hands— Damn it! I'm not going to go look for you—!" *thinking* "He doesn't have any weapons, so what if he runs into a ghoul… What am I thinking?! I have to kill him, that's the deal I had with those Enra old guys. Then I can go to Eden…! Yes, I won't do anything to my disadvantage. Didn't I live my life like that…?"

Voice: "Yes, you have no time to be confused."

Katou: *whirling around* "Who's there?!

Voice: "You can't forget. The pain when his sword penetrated your body, and the hatred when your future and life ended. There's no more time. Your spirit has reached its limit."

Katou: "!" *wires coming from his chest* "Ahh...!"

Voice: "Because that mask is on your face."

Katou: "S..."

Voice: "You'll be finished if you don't do something."

Doll: "It's useless. He can only hear my voice now. The mask attaches to living things with evil thoughts… He's completely under its control. That is to be expected from a puny human, when he struck down the ghouls with his cross, he took their evils along with their powers."

Setsuna: "…What are you saying? I… didn't I strike down ghouls, too?!"

Doll: "You're different, you have enough positive power to relieve the ghouls, their negative influence was overcame. But not him. The more ghouls he killed, the more of their evil he absorbed. Soon, he will be taken by darkness. His spirit has been hurt by the negative influence to the point of breaking down. The Mask only reflects the situation. And his coat not only does not cover his energy, it gives off a wave that attracts the ghouls even more. All but screaming come and get me. I wonder who gave it to him? Were you tricked? How pathetic! But I'll end this now‼ Come! Evil thoughts‼ Awaken!"

*a swarm of ghouls bursts through Katou's chest, attacking Setsuna*

Setsuna: "AAAAAHHHH!"

Doll: *speaking into Katou's ear* "This is a good time to take out your rage! Isn't this what you wanted? Don't you hate him for killing you? Wasn't it painful? Yes‼ Do it!"

Setsuna: *grabs Katou's hand as he's about to stab him with the cross* "Damn…‼ That asshole Enra-ou…‼ He planned to have us fight each other all along…! Damn… him‼ Are we just insects?! Yes. You do have the right to hate me, and I won't complain even if you kill me… But this is wrong‼ If you wake up… and hate me with your own mind, I'll accept that! But… not like this‼ It's not like you to just accept this‼ Didn't you always hate to be treated like a fool!? What happened to that stubborn spirit? Isn't it your way to make them pay for making a fool out of you?"

Katou: "Idiot, everyone knows that. My death won't change anything. But don't you still have some things to do? You'll become my witness, tell those people…! As long as you try… believe in themselves…! Listen, don't overestimate yourself! I didn't do this for you! But at least now you won't forget me anymore… At least remember someone like me used to exist…" *thinking* "Yes… I was only picking on you. That's right, Mudou. Iactually I was so scared then— I didn't leave anything, didn't acomplish anything. I really was— so scared… I vanished meaninglessly, only if I realized that when I was living, no matter how pathetic, how embarrasing, I didn't want to regret it when I died… Right? Setchan…"

What Happened:
I could cheat and just link to Lucifer's write-up of this memory, but I'm also going to give a basic description from Katou's PoV.

Katou's around fifteen, right? And well, his dad is an abusive dickbag and thought, once again, that it would be fun to use Katou as his punching bag. Only this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Basically, he decides SCREW THIS, I'M OUTTA HERE, stuffs some of his things into a backpack, and storms out after a screaming match with his dad. And somehow, he ends up at Kira's doorstep. Kira lets Katou in, no questions asked. Why Kira's? Because fuck you. For his part, Kira only requests that Katou leaves tomorrow. Katou's like whatever, agrees to it, and then he can't find another place to stay. Not that he... tried very hard...

So he dicks around at Kira's for a while, getting high and accomplishing a whole lot of nothing. Kira makes him go to school sometimes and makes sure his loser ass gets fed, because there's just no way Katou was any good at this stuff himself at first, and Kira's a pal like that. There was also some sex with Kira at some point in this adventure.

Blah blah, a couple of weeks pass, then Kira finally gets tired of Katou being a bum and kicks him out and forces him to get his own place.

Kira: "Yo."

Katou: "....Ooo? Ooooh‼" *cough‼ hack‼ WIRES COMING OUT OF HIS MOUTH‼* "Ooo… ooo…‼"

Kira: "That's why I told you so many times not to buy drugs from weirdos. Seems like you got something unbelievable in your system again, Katou. It won't come out if it's a tapeworm."

Katou: "K… Kira…! No‼ Just now…!" *grabs Kira* "The one who attacked Mudou in the cafeteria just now, that wasn't me! Something is moving around in my body… Help me‼"

Kira: "That'll be hard…"

Katou/Rociel: "Fufu… I grow weary of this child… He's so used to drugs, his consciousness remains somewhat…" *tears off Kira's shirt, and points to the bloodstain on his chest*

Kira: "!"

Rociel: *morphs from Katou into his own appearance* "Fufu… This blood stain brings back memories…! It's my blood that spilled on your body long ago…! Becauase of the power of this blood, your body remains undead… But the strength of this blood is weakening. Why don't you fight alongside me this time, instead of Alexiel? If you do, I shall give you some of my blood. Two or three more drops and you can live on for another forty, fifty years. I still like your previous form as well. I think you should listen to me…? Give 'it' to me…"

Kira: "'It' is no longer in my hands… It has long gone into the hands of its rightful owner, Setsuna. It's of no use, Rociel-san."

Rociel: "You…! Let 'it' go?! Are you sane? To entrust your most valuable protection to a stranger… A human, at that… So… You care that much you…"

Setsuna: "Sempai…"

Rociel: "Then I shall kill you and take 'it' from Setsuna myself‼"

Setsuna: "Sempai…?"

Kira: *oshi—* "Setsuna‼"

*Rociel violently kills Kira while Setsuna watches in shock*

Katou: "Aaa… The light… so… warm…" *we are crying and we are dying over here, yep. and as he dies, the wires come out of his chest and turn into a pill*

What Happened:

Sometimes, you take drugs and the side effects are not so pleasant. This is one of those times. This probably happened around, oh, first year in high school. He was trying something new--it's usually Katou the gang will go to if they want to try something new--and the experience went sour. Paranoia, shaking, probably had a fever if anyone bothered to check, bad hallucinations... Several hours later, Katou swore off drugs fore--HAHAHAHA NO THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. But he decided not to try those pills again.

Since there's usually no reason, I get hit pretty often."

Katou: "…I will beat up people. When I get serious… then I will treat it as a very important matter. When I fall for a woman, I just want to look at her, bind her… So if she fools around even a little… I will kick that person's ass! Commander: "Gahh‼" *thinking* "It's that dream again…‼ Following a man who spoke to me even though my face looked… that way… What in the world is that dream about…?!"

Voice on a Screen: "Commander, this is no time for rest. We've been alerted of the terrorists' actions and have tracked down a mysterious cargo ship. …though without your permission, we started to search…"

Commander: "Don't worry about it. I'll be there shortly."

Rebel Angel: "Headquarters! What's the situation at the white mansion!? Headquarters, answer me‼ It's no good… Can't seem to make contact‼ At this rate, we're just sending our soldiers blind commands!"

Rebel Angel 2: Ah! Commander‼ Reinforcements have arrived‼ I think this vessel is…! A black-winged cross…‼ Enemy reinforcements!!! Hurry! Inform the leader!!!

This is more of a montage of memories, sequential snips drifting in and out. It's important to note that while Katou is only semi-aware of what's going on in these memories, and he's definitely not in control of any of his actions.

• Blah blah, watching an emotional scene where Rociel pretends to be Sara to try and kiss Setsuna, fails because the real Sara shows up. Sara calls Rociel a monster, Rociel threatens them, then disappears. Cut to the bushes, where Katou is hiding, holding a camera.

Katan: "...Rociel-sama?"

Rociel: "She said.... I was a monster? Me...!!"

Katan: "...Rociel-sama?"

• Katou walks over to Rociel, and hands over the camera silently.

Rociel: "How did it go...?"

Katan: "Rociel-sama, who is that?"

• Rociel clings to Katou.

• Setsuna grabs Katou by the shift collar.

• Setsuna swings a fist at Katou, but Katou grabs it and gives Setsuna an evil smirk. Then he pulls Setsuna off the table and knocks him to the ground.

• The students begin murmuring. "Whoa... Amazing..." "Unbelievable, against that Mudou...!" "That third year student is strong!" "What's going on?"

Setsuna: "You're..."

Katou: *dumps a bucket of water on Setsuna* "Hey, clean up the mess. The kitchen ladies will get angry."

• Katou tosses the bucket at Setsuna's forehead, which ends up giving him a cut. Katou walks out of the cafteria, spotting a glaring Kira (wearing glasses). He smirks and flips off Kira as he passes by him.

• Outside the high school, the previously mentioned posters about Sara and his sister are falling to the ground from above. Setsuna has a breakdown, this leads to a scene where Kira speeches at Setsuna, and then there are comforting hugs between the two. Katou watches from above, hands in his pocket, glaring angrily.
