We don't actually get this scene in canon, but it'd be pretty important for Katou to remember, so I threw it in the registry. Basically, I blatantly ripped off this little bit from somethingkarayan wrote up and let me use with permission.

Turned out to be that quiet, studious kid who always got A's and yet never got beat up. Katou made some snarky comment about him being a goody-two shoes and ended up having to go to the nurse's office. The next day he started following the guy around. And that's how he met Kira.
