What Happened:

Kira: "If you don't fight now, you'll regret it for the rest of your life! When you don't fight while you live, your soul will rot.

You're running away again. Don't you want to go to the hospital and see your father? At least a final farewell."

• (Katou: "Before I was hurt, I hurt them... Before I was betrayed, I betrayed them...")

Katou: ".....It's so painful."

• (Katou: "I've always lived my life like that. I'm so pathetically weak. I've protected myself like that.")

Kira: "Then fight it. Can you run forever? You'll get caught one day, and the punishment will be much worse than losing a finger. If you don't go now, you'll regret it until your death."

• (Katou: "Kira's words pierced my heart--")

Kira: "If you want to live, then you have to fight. Even if you get the crap beaten out of you... You hate to be ignored, so it will just become even worse."

• (Katou: "I didn't fight. I didn't even go to the wake... or the funeral.")

Learned/Effects:
• +15 avoidance of painful situations.

It's probably worth noting that while Katou very distinctly remembers this conversation, he was also stoned out of his mind at the time, so the entire time, everything's a little... unfocused, surreal. He's definitely aware of his surroundings, and the conversation, but it's not as well-defined as if he were sober.
